How long is Summer Session 1 UCI? ›

It is comprised of three different sessions; Session I and the 10 Week session generally begin in late June and typically finish the last week of July and the end of August, respectively. Summer Session II usually begins in early August and ends in early September.

Study Load Limits

You may enroll in up to 20 units total over the summer, max 12 units in a session.

UC students studying at UCI during the summer must apply for and finalize Summer financial aid at their home campus. Students eligible for financial aid at their home UC campus may apply their aid to enrollment at UCI Summer Session.

Online enrollments are real-time, and you should receive a confirmation page to print at the end of the process. If you do not receive a confirmation page, please call our office at (949) 824-6494. You will also receive an e-mail confirmation and receipt.

The best way to increase your chances of adding a section is to physically show up in person the first day. If other registered students do not attend, they must drop due to the “First Day Rule.” If you are present, you will have a greater likelihood of taking that spot.

If you expect to complete all graduation requirements by the end of Spring quarter, then you may apply for Spring graduation; if you expect to complete all graduation requirements by the end of Summer Session I or Summer Session II, then you would apply for Summer graduation.

The use of Pass/Not Pass is governed by all of the following provisions: A student in good standing may take up to an average of four units per quarter on a Pass/Not Pass basis. In addition, students may count a total of 12 units of courses designated Pass/Not Pass Only toward their graduation requirements.

UC Irvine requires a 2.0 GPA for “good academic standing.” Students with GPAs below 2.0 are first on Academic Notice, then become subject to disqualification if their GPA is below 2.0 for multiple quarters.

Only the marks for Pass (equal to a grade of 'C' or better) or Not Pass (equal to 'C-' or below, no course or unit credit earned) are assigned. P/NP marks are not calculated into the student's GPA. Unless a course is designated as P/NP only, students may not take courses toward their school and major requirements P/NP.

FAFSA aid can typically be used for any college term — including the summer. Just keep in mind that there is an annual maximum you can take out in federal loans, which includes the summer semester. Grants also usually have annual limits.

Summer Cal Grant

Cal Grant recipients can request that a portion of their funds be used for the summer session. To be considered, you must: Be an undergraduate student who has not completed a first bachelor's degree.

You can make your payment with cash, check (payable to UC Regents), or credit card (VISA, MasterCard, or American Express). Fees are assessed according to your Summer Session student status.

The summer session is divided into three separate sessions. Summer Session I and Summer Session II are 5-week long sessions, the 10-week session occurs over 10 weeks. Each session offers separate courses and students may take multiple courses across the different summer sessions.

After officially enrolling in a course, you may add, drop, or change the grade option online or by submitting a Course Change Request Form via Docusign to the Summer Session Office. Be sure to observe the deadline dates listed in the Academic Calendar on the Summer Session website as deadlines are strictly enforced.

UC students can study at any UC campus during the summer! However, it's always a good idea to check with your academic advisor before enrolling in courses at one of these campuses to make sure the credits will transfer.

For Summer Courses, Summer Online, and Summer Intensives, UCLA Summer Sessions offers students the chance to select between nine different sessions ranging in length from 3-10 weeks. Each opportunity is full of academic opportunities for you to make progress toward graduation. Each Session has a letter and a number.

With over 700 courses offered on campus, taking classes during the summer is a smart way to accelerate students' time to obtain a degree. Two six-week sessions, running June 24 through Aug. 2 and Aug. 5 through Sept.

Summer Session I is a 5-week session that begins the third week after the end of Spring Quarter. Summer Session II is a 5-week session that begins the week after the end of Summer Session I. Special Summer Session is used for terms other than 5 weeks, e.g., 2, 3, 6, or 10 weeks long.

For example, a current UCI undergraduate student enrolling on time in 12 units of coursework will pay $2,232 in course fees ($279/unit x 8 units), a $190 campus fee, $48 eTech Fee ($4/unit), plus any applicable course materials fees.
